Sabbat Series – Litha

Sabbat Series: Litha, Summer Solstice, Midsummer – June 19

Characteristics of Litha: Gratitude, Growth + Bounty, Magic + Spiritual Power

Litha is the midsummer celebration of the longest day and shortest night of the year. Traditional methods of celebration include bonfires and torchlight processions—rituals intended to encourage the sun, whose power shall wane throughout the remainder of the season. Like Beltane, fire is an element of Litha and bonfires were lit to assist the sun as it journeyed across the sky, changing course and shortening the days. More commonly referred to as Midsummer's Night, Litha is believed to be a time when the veil was thin between worlds and the faerie folk would pass into the human world at Twilight and offer blessings. It is a time to celebrate the abundance and beauties of Mother Earth-- Flowers are in bloom and gardens are producing fresh vegetables and fruits.

Litha is the time to align yourself with the powerful energies of the sun and summertime. Everything is growing and expanding and now is the time to expand your ideas, business, goals or desires. And like all Wheel of the Year Sabbats, Litha is an opportunity to show gratitude for all that you have and thank Mother Earth for her bounty. Litha is also a time to acknowledge your successes thus far in the Wheel of the Year.

Whether your desire is to rekindle a connection to the ancient past, return to a simpler way of celebrating our Mother Earth, or forge a new path forward this blend was made for your arsenal. The Litha blend embraces the ancient powers of the Summer Solstice and the celebration of the harvest. “Litha” is perfect for wearing topically, diffusing in meditation, contemplation, or any healing work. While it can be enjoyed any time, the most powerful benefits will be during the period of June 19 through July 31.
